The DHC Extra Nighttime Moisture Review
I really started thinking about the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on my face around my mid 40s (10 years ago). I mainly used products I could get over-the-counter, but honestly my choices were mostly based on cost. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I really got serious about it and started researching…paying attention to the why we need certain ingredients and when. It’s at this point that I discovered that our night cream is so important because during our sleep is when our skin works to repair itself.
I’ve tried many night creams, some good and some not so good. I first discovered DHC with their Deep Cleansing Oil, which by the way is amazing, so I figured I’d give the Extra Nighttime Moisture a try.
First…at little about DHC. Founded in Japan in the 1970s, one of their core Japanese values is providing top-quality antioxidant skin care products. With their DHC USA located in the San Francisco Bay Area, they continue to work towards providing best-in-class beauty products.
Now on to their night cream. The Extra Nighttime Moisture cream helps to soften and promote collagen for firmer, younger looking skin. While including many good products, such as sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), it’s also worth noting what it doesn’t have…parabens. Parabens, used in skin care products, are preservatives and in recent years have proved not good for us. Other ingredients included are olive oil, squalane, and collagen. This product is specifically designed for use while sleeping to repair the damage that our skin goes through during the day.
What About Cost?
The cost is actually pretty good, especially for the high quality and the beneficial ingredients. I mentioned over-the-counter products earlier, but they’re not inexpensive anymore. Take for instance, Olay’s Regenerist Night Recovery Anti-Aging Cream. A jar, size 1.7 oz. is currently $20.03 at Amazon and $23.95 at Walmart. While the Olay costs less, in my opinion (based on experience), it doesn’t work as well…more like it’s better than nothing, but not what I’d consider effective.
On the flip side…Charlotte Tilbery’s Magic Night Cream Moisturizer 1.7 oz. will run about $107.00 and the Goop by Juice Beauty Replenishing Night Cream 1.7 oz. will cost you $140.00.
It only takes a small amount of the DHC Extra Nighttime Moisture cream, so it should last on average about 2 months. I’d say that’s a pretty good value.
Do I Recommend This Product?
You bet I do! And do I think it’s extra? Yes!
I have to say that this is the best night cream I’ve ever used. My face is so moist and soft in the mornings. I’ve used other night creams where I didn’t even feel as though I’d used a cream the night before. You can tell it’s there, but it’s not sticky. The best part is that I can tell a difference in my skin. My pores and wrinkles are smaller and my skin is more radiant. Realizing that a good skin care regimen is more than one product, I still believe that night cream carries a lot of weight in a good overall program. I saw one comment on Amazon that said it left their skin dry and peeling. This can happen with any product, however, if not used in conjuction with other products.
I truly tried to think of some cons to this product and can’t come up with one.
Where to Find It
Of course you can get it directly from DHC’s website and from Ulta’s website, both at retail ($36.00). Ulta used to carry it in my local store, but I’ve noticed they’re getting away from carrying the DHC products locally. I recently ordered other DHC products through Ulta online and it took a week to get them delivered. My last order was through Amazon and I got it in two days with Prime at the cost of $30.99.
I hope this review has been helpful to you. Please leave a comment or question and I’ll be happy to get back with you. What type product would you like to see me review next? Eye cream? Face wash? Just let me know.
